Comcast-7922 hostname for DS-Lite

Recently, Ubiquity implemented DS-Lite support on their UDR router. As part of the setup,
I get the following instructions:

"Enter the IPv6 address or hostname of your upstream gateway, typically provided by your ISP."

Does anyone know the hostname/address for COMCAST-7922

Thank you in advance for your help with the requested information.

@user_38fcd7 - try to login into your CM and see if you can find the IPv6 information.

To view your modem’s status page go to http://10.0.0.1 or http://192.168.100.1 or http://192.168.0.1

Respectfully, I disagree with your answer and at the same time confuse by it too.

I must get an IP address assign by Comcast (DHCP?) server. Using a website like whatismyipaddress.com/, my public IP comes from COMCAST-7922. That said IP address is not static and therefore from time to time changes.

What I like to know in order to setup DS-Lite is the hostname of the server that is giving out the IP address. Somehow, when I plugged the modem to the wall, I got an IP address from Comcast without any input from me.

The information I'm seeking is not found within the settings of the cable modem.

@user_38fcd7 - I assumed that you have the Xfinity provided Gateway, could you please confirm if that is correct or if you are using your own Cable Modem or your own Combo Gateway?  if you are using the Combo Gateway (either from Xfinity or your own) the information you are looking for is available in the Admin pages of that device - under something like "Network WAN Connection" or something similar to that, both the IPv4 and IPv6 are listed if you are not using the Gateway in the Bridge mode. Perhaps if you could provide more detailed information of the setup (without any PI of course), this community could better understand it and provide an advice.

I use my own cable modem, specifically Netgear CM2050V and use Unifi UDR for routing/switching/Wi-Fi. The information I am looking for IS NOT available from the admin pages from any device (i.e. cable modem router) that I own, it comes from the ISP provider! What your suggesting can be ascertain from an "Admin page" is the same info I can get using a website like "whatismyipaddress.com" which I already mention in my previous reply. The best hostname information I have found so far is c-MyIP.hsd1.nj.comcast.net, where "MyIP" is the ip address given to me from Comcast. The only problem with what I found so far is the "MyIP"

changes because I don't have a static IP.

I will try to explain by using an example.

I use Cloudflare for DNS. In order to set it up via my router (not cable modem). I enter the IPv6 address to the server that provides the DNS service, specifically 2606:4700:4700::112 and the backup 2606:4700:4700::1002.

Similarly, if I want DNS over TLS (DoT), I enter the following hostname into the client device or router

                                  security.cloudflare-dns.com

Using the above example and following from the original post:

Ubiquity implemented DS-Lite support on their UDR router. As part of the setup, I get the following instructions from the UDR router:

"Enter the IPv6 address or hostname of your upstream gateway, typically provided by your ISP."

Does anyone know the hostname/ IPV6 address for COMCAST-7922.

Greetings, @user_38fcd7! And, thank you @user_noname for your helpful contribution! Have you tried "ipconfig /all" from a command prompt to view this info?

I used something better... "whatismyipaddress.com".... the ipconfig /all will not give the information that I am seeking.

@user_38fcd7 - I think I understand a little better now what you are looking for, and I think they are asking for the Public Default Gateway for your public IP subnet, you could find that information, by connecting the PC directly to your CM2050V CM (first you would have to clone the MAC address from the WAN interface of Unifi UDR, to the NIC of the PC, and also make sure that IPv6 is enabled on that PC), restart your PC and do ipconfig/all and look for the IPv6 Default Gateway [Edited: Personal Information]

As for "COMCAST-7922" it's an ASN, this link will give you a good overview what it is - https://www.ip2location.com/as7922  (hope this helps)

Please also redact the public IPv4 address. It is considered to be personal information. The posting of personally identifiable information is a violation of their forum guidelines. The forum bot will not allow your post to be seen publically. It flagged your post as "Private".

I think I need help with the same thing. I'm using a Netgear CM1200 modem and an orbi sxr30 router.

@jc135

What exactly is the problem that you are having ? With your consumer grade router, the settings should be as easy as *obtain everything automatically / DHCP*.
