Comcast box and third party router

I plan to splitting cable to go to Comcast box and third party router.  Is that recommended?

There are many ways to accomplish that, you can place a rented Xfinity gateway in bridge mode, and use your own router/ mesh system/ switch that fits your needs. You can also purchase your own customer modem, and use the router/ mesh system/switch off that. If you are using a rented Xfinity gateway, you will need to follow the steps here to ensure the bridge mode is enabled. If you are using your own customer modem, you will want to follow the link here to make sure the modem supports the speeds you are subscribed to. Which cable do you mean ? Coax cable ? And what "Comcast box" ? A TV box or a cable modem ? And what third party "router" ?
