coax entry to home

Hi!  I just bought an older condo, and I'm trying to install a MoCA system  I'm told that for that I should install a MoCA filter at the point where the cable enters my house from the street.  How do I find where that is?  Right now, all I know are the places where the coax comes out of the walls.

SamJett Good morning! We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to our Community Forums Team for assistance with installing your MoCA system. You should be able to see a box outside that feeds your coax into your home. This could be more difficult to find if you ar in an apartment or multi unit home. Do you have your own home?

utterly useless response there. Sam, you should put the filter on the coax that goes into your modem.

Livechat, thank you!!!  So follow up n00b question... If the coax comes out of the wall, goes through a filter and into my modem - how to do I get the MoCA signal back into the wall and from there to a coax outlet in another room?  (sorry if this is a deeply stupid question, I literally only learned of the existence of MoCA a couple of days ago.)

SamJett No worries, we are here to help! You are correct, the coax comes out of the wall. The beginning point is outside your home. Typically, the box outside is grey that feeds the coax into your home. Are you able to locate that type of box somewhere outside?

No, I can't find a box like that anywhere.  I live in a multi-unit building, so goodness knows where it is.  And even if I found it, how I would tell my cable from my neighbors.

SamJett, I don't have a way to confirm the location of a lockbox or equipment box at your propery remotely. To be honest, the only way to help with this specific type of request would be to schedule a tech visit. However, our techs won't instal 3rd party equipment. Were you having issues with your service that made you feel a MoCa filter was necessary?

First try contacting the building's owner / management company about it. No joy, try contacting Comcast about it and book a tech visit to install one for you. If you are using a Comcast rented gateway device there should be no charge. Good luck !
