Coax connector question
I have xfinity internet and I'm currently renting. I have the router connected to a coax wall port with a moCA filter attached. I have found another coax wall port in my apartment without the moCA filter and was wondering if it would be okay to switch my wifi set up to that wall port. I only have internet so I don't need to worry about a cable connection. The moCA filter sticks out several inches from the wall so it makes using that set up inconvenient.

First. Is this a Comcast rented gateway device ? If so, check to see if the MoCA feature in it is enabled. If it is,
To disable MoCA on your device go to the gateway login http://10.0.0.1
Default login info is:
Username: admin (all lowercase)
Password: password
Once in you will find the drop-down on the left of the screen that is labeled “Connections”.
Click the drop down---> click MoCA---> right side of screen click “disable”---> save changes.
Then remove the MoCA filter and just continue using that outlet. The filter (if needed) belongs outside at the demarcation point / grounding block anyway.

The steps that EG listed are exactly what you're looking for to disable MoCA. The only thing I'll add is that you'll need to enable access to the admin tool through the Xfinity App as listed here:

Also, as EG explained, you'll want to make sure a MoCA filter is installed outside to the line coming into the home if you remove the one that's connected to your coax outlet. MoCA filter prevent your network from interacting with your neighbors' networks and vice versa, so it's important to have one installed.
