coax cable won’t fit into active cable outlet

my coax cable won’t fit into my cable outlet - it will not screw on because the cable outlet and cable are the same size.

I am having a similar issue: the coax that fit on my old comcast modem will not screw onto the new modem (it fits too lose on the new modem).  I cannot use the cable that came with the new modem, since I only have a coax emerging from the wall and it is not one that can be unscrewed and removed.  Might there be some sort of adapter I can screw onto my cable such that is will fit the new device?

Are you sure the wall outlet is for cable?   It may be be for a common outdoor antenna (found in apartments, etc.).

Thank you for the contact.  The coax cable coming out of the wall is the one I have had connected to my xfinity modem for several years.  That same cable will not fit onto the back of the new modem (it fits too lose).

The boxes are made outside the USA. It may have a foreign connection. Are you saying the coaxial cable-connection on the new cable box is smaller than your old coaxial cable used on the last box? Did the new box come with a new coaxial cable? I would have the box exchanged at your nearest service center.
