Changing the wifi channel / spread

We have an Xfinity XB8 router / gateway and live in a dense city. We've had few issues with our Wi-Fi, except for an important piece of HVAC equipment that keeps dropping the Wi-Fi connection and reports it as being weak. Which is confusing because the signal seems to be quite strong in that part of the house.

I did a little digging with a Wi-Fi analyzer and found that in that part of the house, there's a ton of interference from our neighbors' Wi-Fi points on the Wi-Fi channel that our router has selected. That same interference doesn't exist in the part of the house where the router is, so it's not switching to a less crowded channel when it should. In fact, there are quite a lot of options for free channels, so it's a little frustrating.

I enabled the admin gateway on the router and dug into the Wi-Fi settings. To my surprise, it looks like Xfinity has locked down our ability to change things like the channel or the spectrum spread. It relies entirely on the router auto selecting the channel.

Does anyone know if it's possible for Xfinity support to change these values, or to enable us to do so?

user_xw03xg - Hello, and welcome to the Xfinity Forums! Thank you for reaching out. This article walks you through how to change your home network’s WiFi channel selection or mode using the Xfinity app or Gateway Admin Tool. One important thing to keep in mind is that XB6 and newer Xfinity Gateways automatically manage certain advanced WiFi settings to help optimize your network’s performance. Because of this, some settings may not appear or be available to manually change through the Xfinity app or Gateway Admin Tool. For additional details, please see the Overview of Xfinity WiFi Gateways and Routers. I hope this info helps!
