change ip address
Like so many others here my IP address is listed in Indiana, not Illinois where I am. No matter whom I ask or what I've tried I can't get it to change--everyone just passes the buck. How to solve this?

Geolocation isn't managed by Comcast; it is instead managed by a handful of private companies. Maxmind, IP2Location, among others. If you go to their websites you can usually report a bad location for your IP. In my experience sometimes the database will be updated within a week or so, other times it never does......
If you're using one of the Xfinity-provided gateways I don't believe you can change your WAN IP. If you use your own modem with your own router, you can manually change your MAC address on the WAN interface, reboot both modem and router, and you should get a new IP. No guarantees whether that will give you a new location, but it may.
