CGM4331COM - wifi devices not talk to or ping each other

I see this same issue posted by others so there is some common issue.

I have a wi-fi printer connected to CGM4331COM 2G. I have multiple cell phones also connected to CGM4331COM 2G. I also have a PC connected to CGM4331COM via Ethernet.

I was able to configure the wi-fi printer and I was able to print from all connected devices for almost a year, then something changed in the gateway.

PROBLEM: Now, only the Ethernet-connected device *CAN* "see" the printer & print.

- None of the wi-fi-connected devices can see the printer's IP  and they can not even ping it.

- I reset the printer to factory defaults > no change.

- I tried re-installing printer drivers on the wi-fi connected devices & re-installing the printer but since they can't see the printer's IP setup fails.

This shows me the gateway is blocking peer-to-peer coms behind the firewall.

What update/change was pushed out to these routers?

Hi user_dd14e7. Thanks for posting in our Forum. I can assist with troubleshooting your network communication issue. Have you yet tried to Factory Reset the Xfinity Wireless Gateway? If not, consider doing so by holding the WPS button for about a minute or so. Note that a factory reset will set all setting back to default, including network SSID and network key.

@ComcastJoeTru

Hi. I was finally able to do the factory reset. It DID fix the wi-fi printer problem. Thank you.

Now I have 2 follow-up/new items:

1. The default login for the gateway (10.0.0.1) was also reset. I don't have a record of the default login. What is it? I need to change it.

2. Only the 2Gb wi-fi is configured & up. There is no option in https://internet.xfinity.com/connect to configure the 5Gb. How do I configure the SSID for the 5Gb?

OK, using my phone app I figured out the *new* default is to have a single SSID and allow the gateway to auto-select the best connection speed.

I found the factory default login for the gateway via 10.0.0.1 & changes it.

Everything is working now.

@EG Hi. Do you have time to comment on this? I'm not the only one seeing this issue. I have a workaround but not being able to print from other devices is crazy.

I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. You should get a reply here in your topic. Good luck !
