CGM4331COM - wifi devices not talk to or ping each other

I upgraded from my modem to Comcast's CGM4331COM modem. The devices on my WIFI lan can no longer talk or even ping each other regardless of whether they or both connected to the same 2.4/5 ghz wifi or not. The only device that responds to a ping is the one connect via ethernet. Any idea which setting I'm missing? I have both the 2.4 and 5 ghz wifi networks named the same. Is that causing the issue?

@Dasummers the reason I ask is, on my Xb7 the Dhcp Range by default was 10.0.0.2 thru 10.0.0.254, so unless you changed it you wouldn’t be able to add static ips, you could add reserved ips, but not static, just a thought

@Dasummers

As far as your 2.4 and 5 ghz goes, and EG may contradict me with correct info if I am wrong, did you try naming them differently with different passwords?

Are your devices able to "see" your networks in the list and if so, you're then not able to connect to them?

I realize you said you terminated service with Comcast, which is a shame, and I'm sorry to see you go.  However, you should be aware of any termination fees you might be incuring if you're under a contract.

If you are under a contract and you need to cancel service, you may be subject to an early termination fee (ETF).

  •    If you move to a Comcast serviceable area, and transfer service, you are not charged.
  •    If you move to a Comcast serviceable area, and do not sign up for service, then the ETF would apply.
  •    If you move to a non-Comcast serviceable area, then the ETF does apply.
  •    If it is an active duty military deployment, then the ETF will be waived when you send documentation.
  •    If the account holder is deceased, the ETF will be waived upon receiving a death certificate or obituary.
  •    If you downgrade service, then the ETF will not apply.
  •    If you have a Double/Triple Play and remove all but one service, then the ETF will not apply.
  •    If you terminate all services while in a contract the ETF will apply.

I tried the often suggested separation of 2.4 / 5 ghz wifi. No go. Didn't matter if all on same network or not. IP cameras, Google Homes, Printers, PCs, etc., all get to the internet, but not each other.

I appreciate the notice about ETF, but the onus here is on Comcast. $200 / month x 24 months versus paying a programmer to fix one little bug that keeps popping up and aggravating customers seems like simple cost-benefit analysis. Besides, it's not worth my time when I support several accounts / properties with ATT, VerizonFIOS, and now Starlink knocking at their doors and some offering to pay those ETFs or another way to make the switch equitable.

If your convinced it’s a bug etc, why not just exchange your Xb7, it’s free to do, the Xb7 is a fine gateway if setup properly, I have not experienced your issues with it, I can duplicate them, but only if I am using the wrong ips, plus I get this,
