Capped at 100mbit but have 800mbit plan

Hi, the last few days we are not exceeding 100mbit on any downloads (speed test or otherwise) even though we are subscribed to the 800 mbit plan. Previously we would get close to 800mbit most of the time. I run on a wired connection with CAT6 from the modem to my desktop PC. I have tried restarting the modem and PC, which did not help. Could someone please help? Thank you.

so this is what I have found out if the speed doesn’t exceed 100 Mbps, if your pc network card doesn’t negotiate the correct speed it will default to the next lower speed which is 100 Mbps, so some variable is causing that, personally I have fixed that before by removing the Ethernet cable and reinstalling it making sure the ends are seating properly and in all the way, just a thought

Thanks, that was the issue. I'm not sure why, but the ethernet outlet in this room (and no other based on testing) dropped down to 100mbit from 1000mb previously. Last week the house next door was struck by lightning which caused a power outage and significant internet outage in my area. Any chance that may be the cause?

To follow up, it looks like one of the ethernet ports on the modem is no longer able to output gigabit speeds. I believe the 100mb port now has an orange light, and the others are green. Perhaps it was fried in the storm last week. I'll see about getting the modem replaced. Thanks again!
