Cant connect wifi to certain device

Upgraded to the XB7 white modem/router a week ago with no problems. All 10 devices in household immediately connected.

2 days ago my Macbook Pro lost its ability to connect to home network. All other devices are fine including wife’s macbook air. Ethernet works on the affected laptop. The network appears but getting “unable to join” error after inputting password. Affected laptop can connect to other wifi networks just not my home

network.

Spent 3 hrs with an Apple sr tech support who did everything imaginable on the macbook and also went the extra mile analyzing settings from within the xfinity admin console (10.0.0 thingy).

I reset the xb7 to factory settings and no cigar.

xfinity technician coming over in a few days, worried they might brush this off as an apple thing. How can i lead him/her in the right direction? It seems too coincidental that the router was the only thing that changed recently but then again weird that only one device would be affected.

save me?!

So xfinity technician came

by today, couldnt make sense of the situation and decided to swap the gateway device. Now i’m using the XB8 and the connection is back. I guess modem/router was at fault not apple. Fingers crossed thing stay stable.

@Trizzoboy3 having this issue currently and they replaced my modem to the XB8. It helped for a few days, but I’m having trouble again. Has the issue stayed resolved for you??

@Trizzoboy3

Please create a new topic of your own here on this board detailing your issue. Thanks. The original poster has not returned. 4-month-old dead thread is now being closed.

For future reference, it is better to submit your own post as it creates a ticket to get help, and posting on someone else's older thread can delay getting help.
