What steps have you done so far? Have you set the router up? If your gateway has wireless capability, have you put it into bridge mode and rebooted it? Most routers have a utility available on their website which you can download to your phone and set up the router. If all else fails, read the setup guide and manual that came with the router. There will be information in them for problems and how to solve them.
Not much to go on there..... Are you using a separate cable modem and a stand-alone router, or a combo modem / router gateway device ? How are you trying to "connect to it" ? Hardwired or wirelessly ? Is this a new move in / new service installation ? What are the indicator lights on it doing ?
