CANNOT setup router with gateway

I CANNOT get the gateway to work with my router, even in bridge mode. The routers IP address was not showing up and once the gateway was connected to the router, I could not get a connection. I tried power cycling both devices, resetting both devices and nothing resolved the problem.

My setup was working. Then, all of a sudden. I became unable to access my routers login page. So. I replaced the router. Neither old nor new router will work now, with the gateway.

Somewhere along the way, I became unable to access the gateway's settings too.

How do I fix this?

user_kwtcml Hello and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. I understand your deep frustration; not being able to access your router or gateway settings after attempting Bridge Mode is a classic, stressful conflict. I apologize that replacing your router didn't fix this immediate problem.

Since your devices are locked up, the only reliable fix is a complete network reset:

  1. Factory Reset Both Devices: Use a paperclip to hold the Reset button on the Gateway for 30 seconds. Also, factory reset your personal router (check its manual).

  2. Confirm and Re-enable Bridge Mode: Connect a computer directly to the Gateway. Access http://10.0.0.1 to confirm Bridge Mode is initially off, then re-enable it.

  3. Critical Power Cycle: Unplug the Gateway for a full 5-10 minutes. This step is crucial to clear the network connection.

  4. Reconnect: Power up the Gateway, then connect the Gateway's Port 1 to your router's WAN port, and power up your router.

This sequence should resolve the connection conflict and restore your access.
