Cannot get to Arris SB8200 192.168.100.1 through Linksys wireless router (Sort of Solved)
I installed an SB8200 last night and went through a major dance to get to 192.168.100.1.
My original intention was to use one of the two SB8200 Ethernet connections for a Linksys wireless router and the other to direct connect a PC. This plan fell through when I learned that XFinity only provides one IP address to residential accounts. So only the Linksys wireless router is plugged into the SB8200 and the PC is connected to an Ethernet port on the Linksys wirelss router.
In this configuration 192.168.100.1 cannot be accessed from the PC. Attempts to browse to it would timeout. I could ping it but that was about it.
The brilliant sollution I found somewhere out on the web was to temporarilly plug the PC directly into the second Ethernet port of the SB8200 and modify the PC's connection settings so that the Ethernet connection uses a fixed IP address such as 192.168.100.20. Once this was done the PC could get to 192.168.100.1.
Havnig to change the connection settings and move a cable is slightly inconvenient but at least I can get to the error logs in a pinch.
Hope this helps someone going through the same type of thing.
