Cannot connect to xfinitywifi via phone anymore

Dear all,

I have a connectivity issue that I do not know how to address. I have been using xfinitywifi both on my laptop and android phone for a year. Suddenly at 4AM tonight, my phone lost connection and I cannot reconnect anymore, because xfinitywifi hotspot is not even among the list of wifi networks that I can attempt to connect to. My laptop is still fine at the same location, so I know that there is xfinitywifi signal for sure.

I tried reaching out to agents, but could not solve my issue. At this point, I tried resetting the network settings, rebooting the phone or even a factory reset. Nothing helped.

Can someone help? Thanks a lot in advance.

They have disabled 2.4ghz hotspots for some reason. Only 5ghz is being broadcasted.

Thanks a lot, this expalins a lot of things. I spent so much time on the phone with customer representatives trying to understand what kind of change Comcast has made, but got random irrelevant suggestions.

So is my understanding correct, as in my phone does not support 5GHz Wifi and I will not ever be able to use Xfinity after this overnight change? Because, it says "802.11 b/g/n" about my model here: https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a10-9580.php

You would need dual band travel router or router that can connect as client to 5ghz hotspot. Then broadcast its own 2.4ghz network for your older phone to connect to.

Or Comcast can fix this and re-enable 2.4ghz hotspots.
