Cannot access router settings.

Aparently to let my smart tv connect properly to my internet, I need to change the mac filter ing and "aes to tkip" whatever that mean.. the problem is.. the only way i know how to do that is the 10.0.0.1 thing which doesn't work. loads so slowly it times out. I've already scowered the internet trying to find a solution to this issue. I've tried different browsers, power cycling the modem/router (rented from xfinity), and using cmd looking for the LAN "default gateway" one (which is different). I've tried calling but this virus is making everybody go home early. (yes that means i've been calling all day...) please help... or im going to a different isp

What model gateway device do you have that you're trying to log in to using 10.0.0.1 to change settings?  Are you trying the default login/password or are you not getting prompted for a login/password at all?
