Can the Xfinity modem/router wire be removed from my computer (needing to install new hard drive)

Well, my computer needs a new hard drive, so I must shut it off and remove the power cord to be careful. Should I also remove the yellow Lan cable  going to the Xfinity modem/router.

I'm just a beginner on this WIFI stuff so have to learn. Thanks for any help!  Bob.

Thanks for your kind and quick response! I have just (December 27, 2020 ,or so) Finally left dial-up and gotten wifi !

I don't yet understand these routers. So you are saying I can unplug the yellow (LAN) wire. Install a new hard driive, turn it on, plug the yellow wire back in, and going back online will be functional again, correct?

Thanks again.  Bob.

You can, it won’t hurt anything, it may just be in the way
