The two WiFi bands SSID's have recently been combined into one with the Comcast gateway devices. Some devices get confused and don't know how to see / talk to combined SSID's.
If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 names and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;
I am also trying to connect a TP-Link extender (RE305). I have tried, unsuccessfully, to connecting with the single network name / password. I have tried, unsuccessfully, connecting to the 2.4ghz after separating the bands. I am going to try to connect using the TP-Link app next. A year ago, in a different house, using a motorola modem, all I had to do was connect the extender to the modem via ethernet cable. I tried this with the xFi and it did not work.
@AmingtonLN I was able to connect the TP-Link extender (RE305) to the network . I was able to connect to both 2.4 and 5ghz sigs, using both the single name/psswd that xFi is set up for as well as two unique username/psswd when separating the bands or channels. Note, I was able to do this using the TP app. I could not get it to work by connecting network cable, nor doing via wifi proximity. I was hoping that the extender would help my signal to my lawn irrigation controller, that is located in the garage (on the opposite wall of the xFi), but I still can not get the controller to work.

Associate the TP-Link with the new 2.4 SSID (broadcast name) and password.
