Can No Longer Change Wifi Channel - All Neighbours On Same Channel Now!!!!

Xfinity rep: how can I change the wifi channel? You've pushed out a firmware update that won't allow user access and it's not selectable in the app. A number of my wifi devices no longer connect due to interference with 12 neighbors because ALL OF THEM ARE NOW ON CHANNEL 1!

Is there a bug in your firmware forcing everyone's gateway/modem to channel 1 on 2.4G? Note channel 6 is empty! So are the other channels!

Ridiculous change. It's almost like it was done on purpose to sell pods...

Hello @Kubicide. Thank you for sharing this issue with us. I am sorry to hear about the trouble connecting your devices to your in-home network. The neighbors in your area should not be affecting your ability to connect to your own, private network. 

 

When you mention changing WiFi Channels, are you referring to splitting the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands? If so, which model gateway are you renting?

@XfinityElizabethA​ This is how they answer you back. They'll take you around & around with this issue without accomplishing anything. They don't want to admit what they've done to their customers, and they really don't care how we feel about it. If they did, they wouldn't have done it. I called and talked to Tech Support about this 2 times, and they took me around and around, but i wasn't going to give up on it. I wanted them to admit what they've done to us; I finally got them to admit that they've blocked the advanced Wi-Fi settings. The only thing we can do to our wifi settings now is.... Change Username & Password. I'm thinking about leaving Xfinity myself.

NONE of my Roku's work after the change.  I can't change channels, I can't change the mode back to b/g/n, which was working.  All of my Roku devices were working fine now I have no TV because of Xfinity.  I have wasted countless hours trying to find a resolution and now the only resolution seems to be to dump Comcast.  Earlier this week, wireless was dropping multiple times a day for several days.  I am over the frustration.

You will not be able to change channels as long as you own hardware provided by xfinity.  They have removed the ability to change channels.

Can't change my wifi channel bandwidth anymore. I used this to not only connect to my security camera outside my house, but i used it to access a radio channel that wasn't so cluttered with other customers. Now, my internet is slower, my security camera is glitchy and freezing and my smart Tv is doing the same thing. I talked to 2 agents about this problem but they don't seem to care. I finally got them to admit what Xfinity has done to our internet. I also told both agents that it was [Edited: "Language"]!!! Now we can't control our own internet ourselves anymore. If they don't fix this problem, I'll be forced to go somewhere else for my internet. I'd say, they problem care less though. Xfinity, You should be ashamed of yourself for doing this to your customers! We're all high paying customers that should have some control over their internet. FIX IT NOW!!!
