Can my employer see when my internet is paused?
Yesterday, while I was still working, my mom accidentally paused the internet(she was looking around the new xfinity app and wasn’t fully aware of what she was clicking). I wasn’t aware that the internet was paused and I went to open a browser and my laptop gave me a message stating the internet for my device was paused. Now I’m kinda wondering if my employer is able to see that it was paused? I wouldn’t want them to think I’m trying to get out of work.

Depends on what your company uses and their IT department. If it's MS Teams, WebEx or some other live messaging app for real time communication, can you see when other employees are online and logged into work with the app active? Yes. Can you see when they haven't moved their mouse for a while? Yes, messaging apps can also say "away" too, if you haven't done anything on your computer for a while.
Depending on your settings, your IT department may have messaging/communication apps set to launch by default on boot. That's actually the default install setting on most of them. You'll probably see an icon for them in the taskbar on windows. You may have to manually launch a VPN connection to your work too, or perhaps they have that set to launch on boot as well so you don't have to.
Does your employer have any control over your internet connection itself? No. You control that yourself with your Xfinity login if you are using their app, or you manage that yourself with 3rd party equipment.

@Dun_B2023, Thanks so much for reaching out to Xfinity Support. With so many of us working from home, this is a question that comes up every so often. I think that flatlander3 did a great job of explaining things earlier. A lot depends on your employer. A good rule of thumb is to screenshot or record the incident just to be safe, so you can let your employer know if anything comes up later. Most employers are aware that things happen when working from home. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
