Can I update my rental modem?

Since I am now paying even more for my rented modem (thank you for the new year price increase Comcast), I want to make sure I have the newest model/best equipment.  Can I bring my modem into a Comcast store and exchange it for the newest model?  Do I have to call to schedule a modem exchange?

Anytime it’s convenient for you, swap away. There are also devices you can buy instead of renting

If you’re going to continue to rent, just pop into the local Xfinity Store and ask for an XB6 (I recommend the Technicolor Variant of that gateway).

If you’re going down the path of owning your own equipment go https://mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com and you can either sign in if you want or enter your zip code and speed tier and find a list of compatible modems and gateways based off that.

Thank you - How do I find out what modems work best with the Comcast network?

Hi @askingquestions

Thank you for posting your question in the Xfinity Forum. If you haven't had the time to stop in and swap out your modem. I'd be happy to help by shipping one. Can you please send a private message with your first and last name as it appears on your account? To send a private message, click on "ComcastChe” and then click “send a message".
