Can I re-purpose a NOW Internet Gateway from another location?

I used to own two properties, one remote and one home, both had internet service through NOW Internet gateway devices at each location. I sold the remote property and the Xfinity rep said they don't take back these old gateway devices and just get them recycled.  But the gateway at my home just went bad (specifically the LAN ports due to some lightning storm or power surge), so my wi-fi router doesn't work with it anymore, and I know it's not the router because I replaced it.  But I still have the same model gateway from my old remote property, and I plugged in the router and see the lights on the LAN ports go on each one I tested.  Can I just re-use or have the gateway from my remote property re-activated at my home location?  I could not see where I could update online the gateway device to be used at my home property, because the address of record with the working gateway is with the property I sold.
