Can I move router to a different room?

So for the past 8 years I have always had the wireless router and modem in my office. My computer has always connected via wireless. If I want to switch to connecting computer direct, can I then move the router to my living room (leave model in the office)? And if I can move the router to the living room, is it as simple as just plugging it into the living room that has an LAN port obviously? Or is there something additional needed since the LAN from router is not being connected to the modem?
