Buying a modem from secondhand store
If I was to purchase a modem from secondhand store like Goodwill, will I be able to activate it under my Xfinity Internet account and also will there be monthly fees?

You'll be taking a gamble.... One should be careful if buying used modems from someone, charity outlets, or from sites like eBay. Many times, they wind up being listed in Comcast's database as having been stolen / unreturned, and they won't provision them for service. To be safe, buy only brand new modems in their original packaging from reputable retailers.

Hi there, @user_oce252! @EG is correct that there is a lot of fraud we run into with 2nd hand modems. If there are no problems with the 2nd hand modem, it can be added and activated with these instructions, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/activate-xfi-gateway-app. You can view the list of modems that are compatible with our service here, ,https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned.
With our new plans that came out at the end of June, you can add one of our xFi modems at no cost. With our modems, you get free upgrades, great controls like pausing the internet on a device in the Xfinity app, and total technical support. Do you want to take a look at adding one?

I did take the Gamble and purchased a modem from a secondhand store. It was Xfinity modem, don’t waste your money on getting a Xfinity modem from Second hand store, you will be asked to return that modem to an Xfinity store or be charged $130-$150 for the modem
