Brother printer doesn't seem to be getting an IP address from new xfinity gateway modem

I replaced my old router/modem with the new xfinity gateway router/modem few months ago.  I just discovered that one of my printers no longer works on any of my 4 computers.  The problem seems to be that the gateway is not sending an ip address to my printer.  The printer settings show an ip address of ‘ 0.0.0.0’  .  This printer is connected to the gateway via ethernet cable - a brand new cable.  It worked fine with my old modem.  My other printer works fine – but it is wireless.  How do I get my printer running again?

@polishandproud Hello, thank you for reaching out to us through our Xfinity Forums Community, and thank you for your patience while awaiting our response. I understand you are having issues connecting your printer to new Xfinity gateway modem. You stated the printer is connected by Ethernet cable and will not connect, can you tell me if the printer has the option to connect wirelessly? If so, will it connect through WiFi?

Hi Brian.  Thanks for getting back to me.  Actually I have finally solved the problem on my own.  The big hang-up has been that the printer wasn't being assigned an ip address.  The printer settings kept saying it was 0.0.0.0.  After trying quite a few different ideas I finally tried resetting the printers network setting back to the factory defaults - and all of a sudden the ip address appeared in the printer settings.  I put that address into the router settings as a reserved ip and saved it.  I reinstalled the printer on all 4 computers and everything worked again!  Problem finally solved.  Again, thanks for getting back to me.....cliff k
