Blocking Unknown Devices
Random decives keep connecting to my gatway. I pause them once they disconnected i forget them but they keep connecting. I have rest the gateway changed the password but they still connect. I have no clue what devices they are as all my devices are connected and assigned to family member groups. The weird thing is they are connecting via moCa which i have disabled on the gateway. At one point there were 50+ Random devices connected. I have removed all but the 2 that keep connecting. I do live in an apartment which could be the issue. I am thinking of trying to see if I can block the MAC addresses but now for some reason i can't sign in to the gatway. I have the white xfi one. Any suggestions?

The concern is not "Home Security Device" help related. Thread moved here to this help section.

Hi there, @user_45e85b. Thank you for creating this post and allowing us to assist you. Just to clarify, you are asking for assistance to block via mac address directly, you can use the following link https://comca.st/3s5zoAy to learn how to do so. If you are having issues with logging in directly into your gateway, please send us a peer-to-peer message to verify what is happening.

We've seen many posts here that the MoCA feature gets turned back on with their overnight re-boots / updates for the device. You could try using a MoCA P.O.E. (Pont Of Entry) filter on the coax line like this one: https://www.amazon.com/SNLP-1GCW-Filter-Eliminate-Multi-Room-Interference/dp/B07SLD9QPH
It will block the neighbors' MoCA signals from affecting your network.

The Xfinity gateway GUI is misleading. If you goto http://10.0.0.1 login Gateway>At a Glance page and see the red dot with X in it at top of menu and in the home network section at lower left, ignore it. That changes to a green dot with checkmark when a device connects to your network via MoCA and then turns back into the red dot with X when there are no MoCA devices connected.
In the GUI, goto Connection>Status and look at the bottom section. If it says the MoCA network is Inactive, then goto Connection>MoCA and check if the Disable button is red. Only when those two conditions are true is the MoCA ACTUALLY turned off. On some gateways, there's also a MoCA LED, which will be off when those above two conditions are true.
I was having the persistent MoCA problem – couldn't make it stay disabled. I had up to 6 unknown, unauthorized devices at once accessing my network via MoCA! It's crazy that Xfinity has the default MoCA privacy set to disabled! After numerous calls to tech support, I was about to give up and put the gateway into bridge mode and use my own router with it.
Then, fortunately as it turns out, I lost internet completely for a day and a half. My connection had been dropping randomly and speeds all over the place throughout each day since crews came through the neighborhood doing a network "upgrade". This complete loss of connectivity led to my having 2 techs come to the house on 2 different days. The last tech knew what he was doing. He said the pole-to-house line was bad, so he replaced that with TWO lines, for some reason he didn't elaborate on, and added a MoCA POE filter, as he said there was never one in the box.
Since his visit, I have had full speed, stable internet and MoCA has STAYED OFF in my gateway. With it off, you don't need to worry about MAC filtering or having to play the Pause Device game repeatedly.
The tech didn't elaborate on exactly what he did in terms of communicating with Xfinity while he was here, so I don't know whether the POE filter alone cured the problem, or whether it has to do with him running 2 lines where there was only one, or whether he sent some kind of code/command to disable MoCA on Xfinity's end.
Hope this helps someone else with their persistent MoCA issue.
