Blocking Specific Websites, no Parental Controls

Hello,

I am trying to figure out if it is possible to block specific websites for a user or group of devices, without having to use parental controls. Parental controls block and moderate too strongly, I want to block one website from access on certain devices only. I have an xFi router that restricts access to the router portal.

Thank you very much for reaching out to us here @serf8. In doing the research on your question the only option have to block a specific website is through the parental controls. The only steps I can find does allow you to input specific URL,s to be blocked.

Set Up Website Blocking
  1. Log in with your Xfinity ID and password.
  2. Go to Parental Control > Managed Services. The Managed Services menu allows you to prevent access to applications and services.
  3. Select Enable, then: Blocked Sites: Click Add and enter the URLs of the websites to be blocked, and set up a time schedule.

@XfinityJohnG's instructions appear to be from https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/set-up-parental-controls-with-comcast-networking, which is not likely to be useful, especially given that the information for Step 2 under "Set up website blocking" seems to be incorrect:

2. Log in with your Xfinity ID and password.

The login is to a gateway device, and that login, if it hasn't been changed, is not "your Xfinity ID and password", it's "admin"/"password" or, if it has been changed, the login you changed it to. Note also that the support article says:

"The Admin Tool website is only available if you have an Xfinity Gateway that isn’t an xFi Gateway."
