Blinking Upload Light On My Modem

I have a Cable Modem for my Xfinity internet service and on my modem the upload light is blinking. My internet service works perfectly no matter what I am doing but I work from home and if something goes wrong that's not good. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Thanks!!

Hello @hawk1430. It can depend on the modem you are using on what those lights mean. Are you using an Xfintiy modem? If so, do you know the model of it?

@hawk1430, Thanks for letting us know the model, I appreciate it. If there is nothing wrong with your connection there is only so much troubleshooting we can do with third-party equipment. Did this just start happening? When did you purchase your modem?

@hawk1430,

Are you sure it's the upstream LED that's blinking?

The upstream led is the 3rd from the top.

The ethernet led is fifth from the top and it's normal for that one to blink.

Have you checked that the coaxial line is secure at both the modem and the wall plate as well as remove any unnecessary splitters? You can also send a provisioning signal to the modem by logging into our amazing Xfinity My Account app, select internet and then troubleshooting.

Did you just set up the modem or have you had it awhile and the light just began blinking?
