Billing Question

We started Xfinity Internet less than one month ago.  Today I received an email billing me for a month of service and saying my previous balance was past due.  I have two questions.  Why am I being billed for two months when service was first hooked up on 1/26/2025?  Second, how can my balance be overdue when this is the first bill I have received?
