BEWARE! GIG SPEED PLUS INTERNET CUSTOMERS!

I have had the same issue many of you have had in regards to achieving your actual plan speed.  I am using the XB7-T modem.  My current plan speed I am paying for is set to 1.2gbps download with a 40mbps upload.  For a few years I have NEVER received more than 940mbps download however the upload speed of 39mbps has been consistent and is fine.  After the run around many times with comcast offering to change modems and have techs come to the house the issue has never been resolved up until today when I did the work myself.  I have found out that an order to receive over 940mbps you first need to understand that port 4 on your modem is a 2.5gbps port.  If you have a network card that only supports up to 1.0gbps speed you will NEVER get over the 1.0gbps even if you pay for a faster speed.  Comcast does not notify their customers of this which I am pretty [Edited: Language] off about.  With that being said I went out and purchased a 10gbps network card thinking that should do the trick since it is capable of faster than my 1.2gbps plan speed I currently pay for.  I was wrong.  Your connection will force you to only 1.0gbps speed because the modem does not negotiate with the 10gbps when connected to the 2.5gbps port on your modem (port 4).  What I had to do is purchase a switch that costs $130 that has a 2.5gbps port along with a 10gbps port (one switch).  This switch will auto negotiate the speeds from the 2.5gbps port speed on the modem to the 10gbps port speed on your network card.  You run 1 ethernet cable preferably a Cat 7 or Cat 8 cable from your 2.5gbps port 4 on the modem to the 2.5gbps port on your switch.  After that, you connect your second ethernet cable (Cat 7 or Cat 8) cable to your 10gbps port on your switch to your 10gbps port on your network card.  If you can find a network card that has a 2.5gbps port then all you need is just to connect the ethernet from your port 4 on your modem to your network card.  THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO ACTUALLY GET YOUR SPEED YOUR PAYING FOR!  Comcast really needs to make this aware to their customers prior to them signing you up for gig speed plus internet service.  I hope this helps many of you and I hope COMCAST SEES THIS POST TOO!!!

So how is this xfinity fault? Speed was always there, you never had the proper equipment to be able to handle it until you upgraded your network equipment. You made a thread owning yourself honestly.
