Attaching a router to my xfinity gateway

I have looked on-line and in this forum and have not found a good answer on how to do this.  I was having issues with my own modem (Netgear CM1150V Voice cable Modem) which is now not  totally compatible with my plan.  This was attached to a Netgear Nighthawk X10 R9000 router.  I then went and got a Gateway Modem/Router XB8-T and all my issues were gone (trouble with my voice line and problems with a Verizon Network Extender to give me more bars on my cell phone while in my house).  I believe the issue was with my modem. I would like to connect my Nighthawk X10 R9000 router to my Xfinity Gateway to test the router and see if everything is OK.  If it tests out good I then want to get a Netgear Voice Cable Modem CM2050V and attach it to my Netgear R9000 router and eliminate monthly charges for the Gateway.  I need to know how to do this.  I know you have to put the Gateway into Bridge mode and I'm pretty sure how to do this looking on-line and this forum.  But how do you connect the Cat cable from the Xfinity Gateway to my Netgeat R9000.  What port on the back of the Gateway goes to the "Internet" connect on the router.  Anything else I might of missed would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Bruce

Hello! Thank you so much for reaching out regarding the equipment and bridgemode options. I would love to look further into this with you. Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can most definitely take a further look into these options together.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

-Click "Sign In" if necessary

-Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or  https://comca.st/3EqVMu7

-Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

-The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

 - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

 - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it.

@XfinityMarcella Why does this need to be done privately ? That kind of defeats the purpose of a public help forum such as this is, no ?... Can't their questions be answered here ? This is in keeping with the intent of what these public help forums were designed for so that all readers here may benefit.

@bstreyle Once you have connected the ethernet port to your modem to your router, please let me know if you have any issues with enabling Bridge mode. I can provide those steps to you.
