If your asus is behind the x1 and you want to run both for some reason you need to put the asus in AP(access point) mode. This keeps all the routing done by x1 and asus just acting like a switch with wireless.
If your wanting to just use the asus for all the routing and confit. Then you want to turn your x1 into a simple modem by placing it in BRIDGE mode. That will disable the wireless on x1 and you just hard wire from port 1 on the x1 like any other standard modem and go to your WAN port on your asus.
Yes, it is in bridge mode. It worked fine when I set it up last night, but in the middle of the night it disconnected With”your isp dhcp is not functioning” message. Rebooted everything with Comcast support. They pushed me to asus, who had me changed some setting, still didn’t work. They will call back in 2 days! So I’m resetting router and starting from scratch. Note, the router puts out a wireless network, it’s just not getting to the internet via the modem.
Ok, when your setting everything up try having your asus (set to router mode) booted up and waiting for your xFi (booting in bridged). If that does not work let the xFi boot all the way up (bridges) then boot up the asus (router).
Has this issue been solved!! I just bought a asus router GT-AC5300 Rapture and it is having the same problem. No luck connecting to the internet through the Comcast modem. Any help please. Thanks. This is on 8/27/2021

FWIW, this is currently a known issue with Asus routers and Comcast. Unfortunately, we have not seen any solution posted.
