Arris TG1682G speed problem

I have an Arris TG1682G router/modem issued to me by Xfinity.  I noticed some download speed oddities when using WiFi.  Note that measurements were made within 4' of the Arris, all measurements were made using Fast.com, and all speeds are in Mbps:
     Ethernet - 826
     Android 11 phone - 510
     Kindle tablet - 48
My 2-part question is:
Why the huge differences, especially with the tablet?
How can I improve DL speeds for both the phone and especially for the tablet?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello there!
We thank you for taking the time to bring this inquiry to the table so to speak!
You've a great observation and questions!

So, ultimately Wi-Fi speeds may vary dependent upon things such as distance from the gateway, obstructions, and device capabilities! I've also included a link here on different ways that Wi-Fi speed and performance may be improved!

Now, as for phone and tablets, we also recommend checking not only the device capabilities, but also ensuring that the software is all up to date on things like that as well, as of course, that can impact the performance of the device too! Please let us know if any of the suggestions work for you as listed in the link!
