Arris SB8200 only getting 750-800Mbps (SOLVED)

I made the jump to 1GB, purchased a new modem. No dropouts to speak of, just wondering if this SB8200 modem is capable of doing better than 800Mbps (one device hard wired direct)? Or if my signal levels need a bit of tweaking? See attachments/links.

NOTE: I have FOUR devices on my coax - Modem, 4K X1 box, and 2x cable card tuners. For the past 3 years they've all been running through a Comscope CSMAPDU9VPI, with terminators on the unused ports. Previously when trying a non-amplified splitter, my cable card Tv signals would be way out of spec, causing tv channels to pixellate and drop out.

Modem numbers:

Downstream Power = 9.1 - 12.1 dBmV

Downstream SNR = 40.9 - 41.8 dB

Upstream = 37 - 38 dBmV

Cable card tuner example number:

Power = 6.5 - 8.1 dBmV

SNR = 36.2 - 37.5 dB

Well since my last post, my numbers went back up to around 700Mbps and have been pretty stable at that level. So my next problem was squeezing that last few hundred Mbps out of the service. I went back to a website that I have not visited in years and never really put much faith in:

https://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php

Downloaded the optimizer, ran as administrator, backed up current settings, changed settings to optimal, rebooted PC, ran speed test and now getting 933Mbps! This PC is connected to a Gb switch which is connected to a wifi router which is connected to the modem.

Channel ID's 41-48 seem to be the issue with all those errors. I also get tons of these items about Channel ID 48 in the modem log every day:

Date Time        Event ID    Event Level             Description

11/10/2020 05:37740101006"CM-STATUS message sent. Event Type Code: 16; Chan ID: 48; DSID: N/A; MAC Addr: N/A; OFDM/OFDMA Profile ID: 3.;CM-MAC=zz:zz:zz:zz:zz:zz;CMTS-MAC=zz:zz:zz:zz:zz:zz;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;"

NOTE: I edited those MAC addresses for privacy.

Anyone have ideas now?

I just removed the Comscope CSMAPDU9VPI powered splitter and installed a non-powered BAMF 4-Way splitter. Ran speed tests with the same one device WIRED directly to the modem and speeds are worse. Can't even get 300Mbps now!

Here are the new modem signal levels:

I take it your sb8200 was able to download the software version  "d11_m_sb8200_gigabit_c01.cm"??? Mine keeps failing this process.  Max I get is about 300-400.  Any notice about the software version in your event log?

FWIW, that is the firmware version, not the configuration file version.

The event log gets cleared each time the modem is rebooted, so I have no idea if that happened but this is listed on the "product information" page:

Software VersionAB01.01.009.51_080720_183.0A.NSH

Has anyone gotten this router to accept the config file? I've got a tech coming out Tuesday but have no idea why. Fully explained the situation with the incompatible configuration file being sent to the sb8200. Maybe the tech knows some crazy work around, doubtful but we shall see. Guaranteed they say "you should just get Xfinity modem/router" 🤔🙈🙄😞

The SB8200 is a modem, not a router. Yes, obviously I was able to get a config file downloaded/installed because I am getting very very close to the speed I am paying for.

-Did you ever call or chat with tech support? Did they tell you unplug the modem power cord at some point?

-did you try to Factory Reset the modem by holding the RESET button on the back for 10 seconds?

-Are you testing your speed with one PC connected directly to the modem with an ethernet cable? (usually requires rebooting the modem to make it sync to the PC)

-Did you try (install the software and run the optimizer) on the PC?

I used comcast customer chat to activite my modem one time. And did many many reboots, even a factory reset... I never looked for that error message. I saw a channel error message repeated a lot, but after I removed a powered splitter all those went away. What do your signal levels look like?

I've tried everything but "install the software and run the optimizer on pc". Sorry about verbage with router/modem. I meant modem. Did you have to manually install the modem software sent from Xfinity somehow? Or I just worked like it was supposed to and you never saw a "sw incompatible" message in the log?

Guess I should try and reboot a ton.  I mean I have probably 5 times already but maybe some more couldn't hurt.  Did you just pull the power and plug back in? Reset from web page? Factory reset through paperclip hole? All the above? Appreciate all your help

Plese let me know what you meant when you posted "install the software and run the optimizer on pc"?  I have an SB8200, and am having some issues.

Thanks!
