ARRIS SB8200 Firmware/Software Update?

I own my personal Modem (ARRIS SB8200). I pay for very fast WiFi, but recently the connectivity and speed has been horrible. I have been trying to contact Xfinity to get them to come take a look at everything, but it feels very difficult these days to get a real person. When the AI runs diagnostics, it just keeps telling me there are no outages and my internet is fast and efficient... it's not. Could this be because my Modem (and possibly Router) aren't up-to-date on the most currently firmware/software? I know I can't do this manually and would need Xfinity as my ISP to push this update through. How would someone recommend I get them to do this for me? Nothing seems to work anymore and I just want to internet quality that I am paying for. Thanks all!

Hello @tteresak, Thank you for taking the time out of your day to leave a post. I hope your day is off to a great start. Sorry to hear about your issues with connectivity and speed. Have you tried unplugging your modem for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in to see if that would correct the issue? When you are having these issues, are you connected wirelessly or hardwired to the modem?

What speeds are you paying for? The DB8200 is only capable or 938 down, but after overhead it is just around 900.  It is an older model that does not have wifi 6, WPA2, etc.  Might be time to buy a newer modem .  I swapped out my SB8200 4 years ago.

@NoNoBadPuppy for sure it doesn't have WiFi 6, in fact it doesn't have WiFi, it's a cable modem!

My bad, but the point I was trying to make is still valid. The SB8200, which was my favored modem for a long time, is very long in the tooth.

@NoNoBadPuppy I replaced my SB8200 with a Netgear CM3000 so I could take advantage of my 1300/35 plan. Of course, I had to buy a new router (Netgear RS600) and make some upgrades of my home network to handle up to 2.5Gbit. Minor details. Now I'm waiting for the Mid-Split upgrade (someday).   :)
