Arris Device

Hi!

Yesterday I noticed a device (not mine) connected to my network, that is an ArrisGro-4A22 device. I have paused that and changed the password.
I see that it has already happened to other people, but it is not clear what the reason is.
Does anyone know why this device was able to connect without receiving a notification?

Hi @EG

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm sorry, but I still don't understand what it is and why I haven't received any notification when it connected to my network (like for my other devices).

Through the link you shared, I found three different versions: some say that it is not dangerous, others that it would be safer to change the password, others that it is related to xinfinity hotspots. If so, I wonder why all this mystery. I have not found a solution in other posts of this forum. Yet it seems to me that many people have had the same experience. I'm a little bit confused.

Hope someone from xinfinity has the answer...

Hello @user_9eaed1. We appreciate you reaching out to our Digital Care Team.  An Arris or Arris Group device on your network is likely your router connected to the internet. It is a wireless bridge designed by Arris to transfer the wave to-and-from the Wi-Fi routers which use different protocols to connect ensuring enhanced security and connectivity, which means that the connected device is from The Arris group. In short, it means that this is a part of your router and there's nothing to worry about.

Hi @XfinityGabby

Thank you for your feedback.

It was weird because I saw that device connected for the first time only after two months since I installed the xFi gateway.

Anyway, last week I performed a reset of my device and the ArrisGro device disappeared.

Based on your answer, if it will appear again in the future, I’ll not consider that a threat.

Thanks for your help!
