Apple HomePods Won't Work with Xfinity WIFI

Hi all,

I see this issue was raised in 2020, but there was never a clear solution posted.

I have two Apple HomePod speakers. When I go through the process of adding them to my Xfinity wifi, I get the following message:

“Some Features May Not Work on This Network. HomePod features like AirPlay and Personal Requests may not work on “Network Name” because it does not support peer-to-peer connections. Learn More.”

The Learn More link goes here on Apple's site: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209643

Not helpful, unfortunately. I am just setting up a standard home network using the xfinity app.

Is this more of an Xfinity issue or more of an Apple issue?

Sometimes the HomePods then won't even reliably show up on the Xfinity app as connected to the WIFI!

It's even weirder because these problems will spontaneously resolve for a while and then break again. If I reset everything and set it all up again, it will work fine for a while. Then it breaks again, within a week or two.

I need a stable fix!

p.s. Xfinity chat support just sends a link to this page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209643 But this page has not helped me at all. :(

Xfinity also told me to call "advanced support" at 1- 800-934-6489 -- I prefer to receive support not over the phone, but posting it here in case anyone else needs it.
