AN-220-RT ARAKNIS NETWORKS 220 SERIES SINGLE WAN MULTI GIGABIT VPN ROUTER

I AM A RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER OF XFINITY WITH A 5 YEAR OLD MODEM/ROUTER. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT I UPGRADE TO THE ABOVE MODEM/ROUTER.  NOT CONSIDERING THE COST, IS THIS COMPATIBLE/WILL IT BE SUPPORTED AS A RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER OF XFINITY?  NEEDLESS TO SAY, I COULD NOT GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER FROM THE TECHINCAL EXPERT WITH WHOM I SPOKE. SHE WOULD ONLY REFER ME TO THE COMPATIBLE EQUIPMENT THAT XFINITY RECOMMENDS/SUPPORTS FOR RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS.

WHEN I EXPLAINED THAT THIS EQUIPMENT IS MAINLY USED IN COMMERCIAL/BUSINESS SETTINGS, AND ASKED TO BE CONNECTED WITH A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THAT AREA OF THE COMPANY, SHE SAID SHE COULD NOT DO SO.  SHE RECOMMENDED THAT I RENT THE MODEM/ROUTER THAT COMCAST XFINITY OFFERS TO RESIDENTIAL CLIENTS.

IS THERE SOMEONE WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE EQUIPMENT I PLAN TO ACQUIRE WHO CAN GIVE ME AN ASSESSMENT?  THANK YOU.

They don't regulate / classify stand-alone routing devices / appliances. Only straight cable modems and combination modem / router gateway devices. You can use any stand-alone router that you wish with a straight cable modem that's on their approved list.

@EG   Here's my problem/question: the list they publish does not include Araknis equipment --at all. Based on the little I have read about the equipment, it is high end and there should not be a problem  It's simply that Comcast/Xfinity seem to want to limit the equipment you use and steer people to the equipment they rent on the residential clients. I am relying on the recommendation of my IT person, whose judgment I trust and his knowledge base appears deep.  I was looking for "validation" from experts like yourself.  Thank you

Hello @user_xiohnt. We only have a list for compatible modems as that is the devices that we push our software onto for internet connections. Customers can use which ever routers they would like, as it does not affect our modems' internet.
