After upgrading to XB8, I want to go back to XB7
Xfinity initiated an upgrade of my gateway from XB7 to XB8. Now that it's set up, I see a perpetual LED white status light. This is not something I want in my living space 24x7. Is there any way to disable the white, systems-up and running - light? Or do I go back to XB7?

My XB7 has the same light to show network status. It's literally how these modems work. Just do what I do with my PC's annoying blinking power button LED and throw a shirt over it.

@BonnieSF
Modems need ventilation. Covering them can cause overheating, which can lead to performance problems and a possible fire hazard.... Try covering the LED with a small piece of black electrical tape.

Hello, @BonnieSF and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. I understand your frustration with the bright white LED light on your new Xfinity XB8 gateway. Unfortunately, there is no official setting or feature to disable or turn off the solid white "system is up and running" light on the XB8 gateway. I think covering just the light with something that would be less distracting but easy removed would be the best course of action in this case.
