advertised upload speeds are misleading

I am not getting the advertised 100 mbps upload speed that my plan is supposed to offer (I was getting 21 mbps). I tried to explain the issue, but seems there's no solution. I think this is intentional, as the upload bandwidth is allocated to commercial customers.

... not getting the advertised 100 mbps upload speed ...

What is the model number of your modem or gateway? https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/wiki/knowledgebase/next-generation-internet/ lists the devices that are approved for the new upload speeds and other requirements that must be met.

If renting, you need one of Comcast's newer gateways (XB6, XB7, XB8). For a device purchased at retail, you need one of the few devices shown in the "Next Gen Speed Tier" group with an upload speed rating in the "All Compatible Devices" link near the bottom of https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices (at the moment it points to https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2024.05.17%20Full%20List%20of%20Compatible%20Devices.pdf, but this changes from time to time).

Realize that although Comcast calls some devices "Compatible" and some "Recommended", for all but a few devices those designations only mean "approved for and compatible with their Internet service", and not necessarily approved for the new upload speeds.

Comcast could make all of this much clearer, but they have chosen not to do so.

Get a VPN turn it on and run a speed test if your download speed is higher they are throttling your internet.

I tried. I dont see any difference,  it is still around ~21-22Mbps. I ran the speedtest on my macbook wifi, and iphone. I can see a difference on the download speeds (different hardware - it make sense) but the upload speed are same.

@user_cxpsv3

Please create a new topic of your own here on this board detailing your issue. Thanks. The original poster has not returned. 3-month-old dead thread is now being closed.

For future reference, it is better to submit your own post as it creates a ticket to get help, and posting on someone else's older thread can delay getting help.
