Adding access point to garage
Hello-
I currently have the Xfinity Gateway Model: CGM4331COM. When planning my detached garage set-up, I ran a Cat-6 about 75' to feed the Xfi Pod. I was under the assumption that the pods can be fed VIA Ethernet, but quickly found that I was wrong. Im trying to find information on setting up an Access Point in garage, if any one has any info to help me get going with this, Id appreciate it.
The garage wifi will be mainly for music, Xbox & maybe a CPU down the road.
Also, any info on configuring the AP would be awesome.
Thank you!

If you want to utilize that ethernet cable run, then you will need to use a WiFi extender / mesh system that supports ethernet backhaul such as the Netgear Orbi or the Linksys Velop systems. Google for more info

Because its a detatched garage, I dont need it to be the same SSID. Googling the two you listed, it seems to be a bit overkill to have the mesh network.

Well your post sounded to me like you wanted to put that hardwire to use.

Will the only way to utilize that wire be to make it a mesh system?

Why not just connect the device that you want to use in the garage to that ethernet cable (if the device supports it) ? If you need to connect more than one device hardwired out there you can always use an ethernet switch for more ports.
