Access to granular settings on XB6 series gateway.
I'm really hoping that there is a simple solution here, otherwise I will have "upgraded" to a fundamentally less useful gateway solely in order to access unlimited data which in and of itself should not have required this change in hardware.
While navigating my 10.0.0.1 admin dash I wanted to set my wifi to broadcast on specific channels, which I have determined after weeks of testing are the consistently least congested. Not always, but faced the least overall interference throughout the work week. However I was unable to do so and was directed toward the app to tweak advanced settings. I'm perplexed the admin configuration dashboard was unable to perform this very basic function, and doubly so when the app said that said settings were being managed automatically and had no option to manually choose settings that I want to set. I understand that for some folks this is a feature, but to remove control from a user that knows exactly what they want and what they don't this is unquestionably an unexceptable bug. Please tell me there is a toggle someone can switch on the provider side that will allow me to fully utilize the hardware I am pretty much required to lease in perpetuity. I also find it deeply unsettling to rely on an automatic system whose full and complete settings I am unable to audit, especially on the device that a large portion of my personal and work data passes through.

You're out of luck on radio control with Xfinity equipment. It is what it is, and there is no radio control in the firmware.
You can use 3rd party equipment, and get unlimited data as an add on. You can also get a cheap 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11 WiFi 6 access point if your gear supports WiFi 6 and connect to that instead. Check the manual for radio control features and compatibility with your current devices before you buy anything.
Do Not buy anything that doesn't have an actual manual, and just a phone app or a quick start guide.

It’s all how you activate the gateway, if you use the app, your hosed, I use the xb8 and have full access to the 10.0.0.1 admin panel, here is a fun fact, the xb8 can be configured as just a router, bypassing the modem part….
