600mbps cap but paying for 1200mbps
Hello, I have scoured the net for internet optimization. Configured and restarted too many times to remember. I pay for 35up and 1200down. I do not get speeds over 650mbps. It’s been like this for months. Can someone help me with this?
my setup:
modem: MB8600
router: Tp-link Gx90
ethernet cable: Cat 6

I have same behavior with Arris t25 and Asus rt-ax88u.... Router speed test 680ish. My t25 has two wan links and supports link aggregation. I enabled that on my modem in admin portal and then configured my router for dual wan in load balance mode (1:1 ratio) and I can get 950ish... However this shuts down all my router extra features.
Wan aggregation mode is the real answer to get a 2gbps bonded link from two 1 gig cables from the modem to the router but that's not working so I've got ticket open with ASUS.
I suspect the next way to do is go spend money on a modem that supports 2.5gig like the mb8611 and also a router that has 2.5gig wan... That should do it after spending about 700 bucks. Keep your receipts. 😉

Hello @StanMan09 it sounds like the speeds being delivered are in-line with what you subscribe to, but maybe running into some other networking issue. Have you tried to bypass the router, and run a test directly from the modem? Here are some other requirements to help.
Note: Due to Ethernet overhead, actual download speeds are limited to 940 Mbps over a hardwired connection.
I can also take a look at the service to ensure the speeds are being delivered. If you still need help, send me a Private Message, and I will be happy to take a look. 👍

Just looked at your specs, too bad you have the MB8600.... so I bet if you swap into the MB8611 modem which has 2.5Gig WAN like your router you will get the full 940.
Per the Xfinity comment, in this thread:
"Note: Due to Ethernet overhead, actual download speeds are limited to 940 Mbps over a hardwired connection."
I can confirm this to be true because I have tried DUAL WAN on my setup and configured my Dual WAN in load balanced 1:1 mode, and enabled Link Aggregation on my modem. So TWO 1Gig ethernet cables from my modem to my router in this Dual WAN mode will provide right around 940-980 in a Ookla speed test . If I am in single ethernet like your setup, I max out at 650.

FWIW. I've seen posts here showing that dual WAN will yield speeds around 1400 Mbps. 1200 is the advertised speed, and Comcast does around a 20% speed over-provision. YMMV.
