31/32 Downstream Channels Bonded with Gig Plan?
Just wanted to ask here. I recently upgraded from the 800Mbps Superfast plan to the 1Gbps plan.
I have a CM1000v2, which I've been "told" needed to be upgraded although per the hardware specs should be able to handle speeds of 1Gbps. A few questions:
- In my cable modem connection status, I see 31/32 Downstream Bonded Channels with Channel 32 being not locked (screenshot below). Since I supposedly have the 1Gbps plan, shouldn't Channel 32 be locked? I was under the impression that plans or speeds under 1Gbps would not have that channel locked. Just to be sure I'm getting what I'm paying for I physically connected a laptop to the cable modem itself and I am getting download speeds of 940Mbps and which I also think the throughput max of the CM1000v2 stated was ~950Mbps or so. I have not experienced any connectivity issues, but should Channel 32 need to be locked given that I am on Gig plan for full functionality?
- I live in Franklin, TN. I thought the Gig tiered internet plans offered higher upload speeds. I'm still being capped at a max of 20Mbps upload per my plan - is this correct or is it my modem? All of my previous lower speed plans in the past always maxed out at 20Mbps upload.

Is there a downstream OFDM channel(s) being shown as locked in ? If so, that combined with the downstream QAM channels will provide the necessary bandwidth capacity. We have seen many posts here in the past showing that in areas that now have DOCSIS 3.1 / OFDM downstream channels available, they have scaled back from using 32 to 31 channels for some reason. So in that respect, it seems to be normal.

Here's my downstream ODFM channels:
Like I said, all of the other internet plans that were < 1Gbps that I've had with Xfinity always had that Channel 32 as unlocked. I just remember reading somewhere (several years ago) that Channel 32 was only going to be locked when people are on at least a 1 Gbps internet plan with their ISP but unsure if that's actually a true statement or not.

I'm going to escalate your question to the Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) who are available to these boards to answer that authoritatively for you. You should get a reply here in your topic.
