2nd IP address runaround
I have been chatting with Xfinity about a 2nd IP address on my SB8200
I have been told by different agents:
I can get a 2nd IP if I have a rental modem
I already have a 2nd IP (and went on to supply me with my IPv6 address)
Log into my Window computer and type ipconfig /renew to get a second one
I can have a rental modem and an owned modem both on my account, each delivering a separate IP.
How to I reach someone who has a clue and can help me?

They are phasing it out but I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. We've seen cases here where they have been able to get this accomplished for customers even when it is not listed in their rate cards, YMMV. You should get a reply here in your topic. Good luck !

xfinity no longer issues 2 IP addresses for non-business/non-commercial accounts. You will get 'the runaround' because many of the Reps you will speak with don't understand what it is you are asking. They simply read things from their screen. It has been stated by representatives *FROM xfinity* that they can get you one, but no one that has asked in the last couple of years was able to get one. One option is to go with a business account. There is another advantage to this besides a 2nd IP address; their business support is better than the consumer side. Not much, but better. Most businesses do not have multiple IP addresses to increase speed, but so that they have a dedicated pipe for backups, payroll, VOIP, etc.

@user_e5fa41 Thank you for reaching out to us here on our Xfinity Forums! I'll be 100% honest, it's not likely that we would be able to get a 2nd IP address for you, however I'm more than happy to double-check things. Please send us a direct message to "Xfinity Support" with your full name and address to get started.
To send a direct message you may need to:
Click "Sign In"
Click the "direct message" icon
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it

Hello,
I recently had a second ip address for my modem that has two Ethernet ports. Until a few days ago the second ip address was dropped from my account without any notice. I would like to find out why and for this to be applied back on to my account. Can a Xfinity representative please get back to me with information on this?
Thank you

@KristopherKlass
Please create a new topic of your own here on this board detailing your issue. Thanks. The original poster has not returned. 3-month-old and marked "Solved" dead thread is now being closed.
For future reference, it is better to submit your own post as it creates a ticket to get help, and posting on an old thread can delay getting help.
