2G slower than 1G+

Getting 2200 to the router but on my iPhone I’m only 600 on the 6ghz band.

was getting 1400 to the router and 900 on iPhone before the 2G “upgrade”

Using the exact same XB8 I was given for the 1G+ plan.

what is the dang problem!!??

@Kramerk34 Thank you for reaching out. I would be happy to take a look at your account.

I want to make sure we are respecting your time and not repeat the steps you have taken previously. What troubleshooting steps have you taken?

I also wanted to make sure you are aware that any time you need to troubleshoot our Xfinity app can assist you step by step. It is not just to pay your bill or to get notifications about interruptions. To learn how to troubleshoot in the future you can follow the link: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/my-account-app-mobile-troubleshooting. Honestly, it is the best app to date that we offer and super easy to use for all of your account needs!

Ohhhh I’ve used that god awful XFINITY app multiple times. Have you ever actually used it to try and get a problem fixed? It is an absolutely terrible app and experience in general. Every time I tried to use it I am forced to repeat all the same steps and recount all the same information every single time. Even when you force the thing to connect you to a “live” agent they make you repeat who you are, your phone number, email, or whatever other identifier they want EVEN though you are already logged into your account when you use the app. Then you have to tell the live agent all about the problem you’re having and what you’ve done even though it’s all right there in the ask XFINITY app chat. Then every single time I have used it I get dropped from the chat multiple times and reconnected to a new agent, even though I didn’t donor change anything, who then makes you start all over once again. Aside from the fact that I’ve gotten different answers to the same problem every time and none of them have actually been able to figure out why our stupid internet speed has gone to [Edited: Language] since upgrading to a faster plan, the app is complete trash.

as to my trouble shooting. I’ve done every single thing I could think of and what was suggested by the app.

Reboot, reset, forget networks, etc etc etc.

Tried it with the Deco BE65 pro mesh system completely removed, re-installed Deco mesh and put XB8 in bridge mode, neither worked correctly, The tech was actually in my house today and installed yet another brand new XB8 but it still has the same problems and doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do. He still can’t figure out what the cause of the problem is.

My system set up and all of my equipment was EXACTLY the same as when it was working perfectly normal on the 1200 plan.

As I said previously, when we were on our previous 1200 speed plan the download speed into the router would show typically around 1400 and on my iPhone on the 6ghz band I could get anywhere from 900-1100 in the same room as the XB8 and then around 400-800 anywhere else in the house depending on how far away from the XB8 I was.

Then they did the upgrade to the 2G speed plan.🙄

The system actually does say that it is getting 2000-2200 into the router. If I put my iPhone right next to the router it will get 1100-1200 but if I walk 10-12 feet away it falls to around 500 and if I go upstairs into the office it doesn’t even see the 6ghz band at all anymore. My laptop up in the office doesn’t see the 6ghz band up there anymore either.

For all 3 WiFi bands the range of the WiFi from the XB8 and the download speeds of the connected devices have been practically cut in half from what they were before the 2G upgrade.

As of this exact moment I currently still have the 2G plan. The app says it’s getting close to 2000 into the XB8. I have the dumb XB8 in bridge mode and it’s connected to the main Deco BE65 pro via Ethernet. The Deco app also does say that it is receiving 2000 speed from the XB8 in bridge mode. On both of the Deco nodes, one upstairs and one downstairs, I can get 1000 download speed if I am connected to the Ethernet port of the node but that’s exactly the same as when I only had the 1200 speed plan.

it is literally as if there is something that is now restricting the download speeds when being done over WiFi no matter what router the signal is coming thru.
