If you are using their Pods, the bands must be combined or the Pods won't function.

How can I register a complaint or a suggestion that this is a bug and not a feature? When did the system change so that pods won't work with a split network?

AFAIK it's not a "bug". It's by design. And it's been that way from day one.

@EG I beg to differ- I have had two separate SSIDs to provide a 2.4Ghz connection for those devices that need it, and the two SSIDs were working just fine with my pods until I re-"activated" my Xfinity router- which I had to do because the Wi-Fi management tools had disappeared from my Xfinity app (well known flaw in the app, many other threads on it in these forums). I have the tool back now but the separate SSID function is no longer available. I did NOT have this issue for the first few years of having my pods- it only appeared after the reactivation process.

You must have been lucky then. I've seen hundreds of posts here showing that they won't function with separated SSID's.

From their FAQ's: https://www.xfinity.com/search?q=pods

"One WiFi network name and password (i.e., you can't have a separate WiFi network name and password for your radio bands)."

And this link as well: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/change-wifi-mode-admin-tool-xfinity-xfi

  • WiFi Boost Pods
    • Advanced WiFi settings are not visible and cannot be managed from the Admin Tool or Xfinity xFi.
    • Pods require that you only have one WiFi network name and password.
      • This allows all your devices to seamlessly connect to the network that will provide the best WiFi signal at any given time.
