2.4 WIFI Loses Internet
I have my 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz WIFI networks broadcasting separately. I understand that Xfinity discourages this and that the default is to combine the two and let the gateway sort it out. Unfortunately, I have two networked light switched from Leviton that don't seem to like that and will not connect to the network unless I keep the 2.4 and 5 seperated.
Anyway, my problem is that 2 - 3 times a week, my 2.4 network loses connection to the Internet. It still broadcasts but any device connected to it cannot reach the internet. If I switch the device to the 5.0 network, it works fine. Restarting the gateway fixes the problem.
I know certain appliances can interfere with the 2.4 networks but I can't seem to think of anything that would be running when it goes out.
Anyone else have this issue or know of any reasons why this would happen?
Thanks in advance.

When I said appliances, I was not limiting it to ovens and fridges, I understand that these other devices cause interference but why would the 2.4 network work 95% of the time when all of these items are in play 100% of the time. If I use a cordless phone, will it disrupt the 2.4 network such that the only way to get it working is to reset the gateway. Or, does it only interupt the 2.4 network when the cordless phone is being used.
I believe I have my wife channel set to Auto, should I set it to a specific channel to see if the problems resolve?
My neighbors are not close and I do not see their wifi networks so I am guessing they do not see mine.

Yes, repeatedly. 2.4 consistently goes out. It's useless to call as all they will do is send a resest signal to your modem. Another example of the fine service provided by comcast.
