2.4 to 5.0 The worst
My internet was upgraded a couple of years ago from the 2.4 to teh 5.0. Since then the speeds icnreased but teh signal distance serouislly decreased.
Has anyone else expereinced this and if so, what was your resolve? We used to receieve good signal by the pool or in the driveway. Now the signal drops almost immediately outside the entry door. Very annoying. Considering the amount on my monthly bill, I expect more.
Any idea if moving the modem/router upstairs will help transmission?

Some tips for improving WiFi performance;

There are other options. Google for WiFi repeaters / range extenders, WiFi mesh systems / pods.

Adding to @EG, are you sure you don’t have access to both and your networks are just combined?

Yes, 5GHz has greater speed but lower distance/penetration than lower frequencies. If you want to use certain devices far away, you might switch them back to 2.4GHz. Wi-fi frequencies are really independent of your internet. You should be able to use either or both. Some Comcast routers come with the bands combined but you should be able to split them if needed.
Frankly I kind of like how 5GHz wi-fi doesn't get into the neighbors homes (much). (And vice versa.)

The 5 GHz radio offers faster speeds but a significantly shorter range. That's just the nature of the shorter wavelength of the 5GHz band. Sorry. You could try a range extender, but check the comcast web to see which ones are compatible. Comcast is "funny" (not in the HaHa sense) in that their equipment is all proprietary.
My 2.4 radio drops its signal about 30 times an hour, so I know how frustrating these problems can be.
