2.4 hgz band

How can I tell if my router is set for 2.4 HGZ band. I have a high sense TV that apparently will not connect to a 5HGZ band.

user_wgf4ak Hello and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. If you're using an Xfinity Gateway, the easiest way to check is through the Xfinity app:
  1. Open the Xfinity app.
  2. Go to WiFi.
  3. Select WiFi Details or Edit WiFi Settings.
  4. Look for separate network names (SSIDs) for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Many newer Xfinity Gateways use band steering, which combines both bands under one WiFi name and automatically connects devices to the appropriate frequency. In most cases, a TV that only supports 2.4 GHz will automatically connect to the 2.4 GHz band.

If your Hisense TV isn't connecting:

  • Make sure the TV detects your WiFi network.
  • Restart both the TV and the gateway.
  • Check that your WiFi security is set to WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode, as some older devices have trouble with WPA3-only networks.
  • In the Xfinity app, you can temporarily split the bands (if available for your gateway) so the TV can connect specifically to the 2.4 GHz network.

If you let me know which Xfinity Gateway model you have (XB6, XB7, XB8, etc.), I can provide more specific steps.
